Beneath the Surface

A quiet stillness within transition

Finding calm, even when everything feels uncertain.

This piece came from time spent literally beneath the surface spearfishing - resting on the ocean floor, completely still, waiting.

I remember watching fish move around me, close enough to feel part of the same space. There’s a strange sense of calm in that environment - You’re surrounded by constant movement and sound, but none of it asks anything from you.

You can’t control what’s happening.
You can only slow down and become part of it.

The work follows that same feeling.

Layers forming and settling on their own — not forced, just allowed.

A reminder that stillness doesn’t always come from changing your surroundings.

Sometimes it comes from finding your centre within them.

Even in the unfamiliar.

Even when things feel out of your control.
