Beneath the Surface
This work was inspired by time spent spear fishing in Spain. I remember one specific dive, I took a deep breath, tucked in my legs for the drop and calmly swam down to the sea floor. I met the bottom at around 10 meters deep and anchored myself to a small patch of reef, surrounded by areas of open sand and sea grass gently swaying in the current.
It’s amazing how much noise some fish make, all around me there was life, octopus, crabs, fish all playing their roles in the eco system. I looked around slowly, conserving my energy and taking it all in, acknowledging the busyness without feeling like a part of it.
That experienced is something I’ve reflected on time-and-time again, it reminds me that despite the world we live in, family, friends, strangers all around us dealing with their dramas and emotions and situations, that we have a choice what we give our attention to, that we can observe the chaos without becoming invested in it.
Energetically I feel that this piece represents a diffusion in chaos and invites us back into our heart and our centre.
